Jack Ruch explains the third guitar solo to Jimi Hendrix’ version of All Along The Watchtower. Video and Tabs. This lesson is medium difficulty.
The video was recorded in a tiny house in Kitasenzoku, Tokyo using an old Sony T-1000, a 14-inch iBook, custom-shop Strat strung with 11-49s, a Burriss Boostier, and a red Roland CUBE Street.
Unlike the first two lessons, this time I’m tuned to standard tuning. Some might find this a problem, others might like to see it played in standard tuning.

Here is the same solo demonstrated in E-flat tuning, like the first two videos.
More Hendrix lessons.

i know this one is good for ear traning!
Brilliant, thank you! I hope you continue the song, that solo still goes on for a bit after you stop. But it’s very useful, and really well done so thanks :)
can you post a tab here as well? like you did for the second part?
thx for the great tutorials
Hey i was just confused on why this is in standard tuning and if there’s a way to get by with playing all three solos with one guitar other than moving it all up half a step. Thanks
Great Videos Jack! And thanks For the Tabs! Thanks So Much Man! Really Appreciate your Videos!

Jack, what key are you soloing in?
Just to say many many thanks for the way you show yer tutorial, couldnt be better explained, i’m a 58yr old and wanted to learn this for a long time ,i hear other musicians do these solos, while i just strum open chords, this has given me a great step forward. One thing what are the bar chords that are played with this, again many thanks.
Thank you for what you have shown us so far. You are a great teacher. Could you PLEASE continue with the rest of the solo’s especially the ones with the wah pedal and that uses the tremelo bar. Also please keep things in the same tuning like the first 2 solo’s. Thanks again and may God Bless you, Jerry P
Sweet!
You should also put up a lesson showing the chorus. I can’t figure that one out, your a great teacher though! 5/5!!
